153 | 4pm, the sun is hardly a factor, and requires NO SUNGLASSES to look at directly. The government does NOT exert the same influence to clean the air for the paralympics, as it did for the olympics, judging from the air quality every day since I arrived. Out in the moutain region of Mutainyu an hours drive north of the city, it is as clear as back home. When you get to the outskirts of Beijing, you drive into a wall of filth. No other word describes the air quality, and once you are in it, you lose the perception of how bad it really is until you say, hey, that building two blocks away, how come I cannot see anything but it's outline? | CIMG5826 | 9/8/08 4:37 AM | |
